Custom Home Furniture Galleries first opened their doors 24 years ago in 1995 at a location on Market Street.

At the time, it was just Kevin Gray running the business until about a year later when his brother John decided to help run it as well.

“At the time I was selling office furniture and health care and stuff like that,” John said. “They were growing, they needed help and I was obviously willing to come.”

Kevin says the store on Market Street was tiny compared to the space they are in now.

“We started out in a small 6,000 square foot space,” Kevin said. “We worked 13 days in a row and had one day off and we did that for the first couple of years.”

The brothers say they just wanted to give the people what they wanted. A good quality piece of furniture at a fair price. Which still holds true today.

As their customer base grew, they grew. They moved to the location they are in now on South College Road in 2007.

But if one thing has stayed the same it is the fact that Custom Home Furniture has always been about customization.

“We wanted to sell a product that had options,” John said. “We wanted people to be able to get what they wanted. We just want to sell stuff that we would want to put in our house.”

To celebrate their 24-year anniversary, they are holding an anniversary sale throughout the month of September. Everything is 50% off.
