Dogs on the beach

Who doesn't love taking their dog to the beach? Nothings cuter than a frolicking pup! Before you head to the coast, make sure you know which beaches allow pets!

All beaches require you to have a bag to pick up any *treasure* that your pup might leave behind. Keep in mind that a lot of these restrictions are for their safety and well-being! Have plenty of water and have even more fun!

Bald Head Island

April 30 – November 16 dogs are allowed

May 1 – November 15 (turtle season) dogs are allowed on a leash

 

Carolina Beach

October 1 – March 31 dogs are allowed at all hours

April 1 – September 30 dogs are allowed before 9 am and after 5 pm

 

Topsail

October 1 – May 14 dogs are allowed

May 15 – September 30 dogs are allowed on a leash

 

Caswell Beach

Dogs are allowed year-round, and can be off-leash from dawn until 9 am any day, or from 3 pm until dark October 1-April 30

Holden Beach

September 11 – May 19 dogs are allowed on a leash

May 20 – September 10, 9 am – 5 pm dogs are not allowed

Kure

October 1 – March 31 dogs are allowed on a leash

April 1 – September 30 dogs are not allowed

 

Masonboro

Dogs are allowed off a leash all the time!

Oak Island

Dogs are allowed year-round on a leash

October 16 – March 15 dogs are allowed off their leash 6 am – 8 pm

Ocean Isle Beach

Memorial Day through Labor Day, 9 am – 6 pm, dogs are allowed and they must be on a leash

Labor Day through Memorial Day dogs are not allowed

Southport

October 1 – March 31 dogs are allowed on a leash

April 1 – September 30 dogs are not allowed

Sunset Beach

Labor Day – Friday before Memorial Day dogs are allowed on a leash

Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day, 6 pm – 8 am dogs are allowed on a leash

Wrightsville Beach

October 1 – March 31 dogs are allowed

April 1 – September 30 dogs are not allowed
