“We’re off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz…” again!
The park originally opened in 1970 and ran for 10 years before running into some financial trouble and closing the emerald gates to Oz, according to WRAL.
In September of 2018 they held their 25th annual “Autumn at Oz”, and at some point they started to open during the summer for a limited time as well.
They will open again this summer/autumn for a limited time to celebrate 50 years of The Land of Oz.
The dates they will be open this summer are:
- June 12
- June 19
- June 26
- July 2
- July 3
- September 11
- September 12
- September 13
- September 18
- September 19
- September 20
According to their Facebook page, ticket launch dates will be announced this spring.
“Children and adults alike will be enchanted as they experience the re-creation of Dorothy’s magical trip from her farm home in Kansas through the twister and down the yellow brick road to the Land of Oz,” their Facebook page says. “Along your journey you will be met by a full cast portraying many of the vibrant characters similar to those of the original Oz.”
The tour through Oz usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour.
