Last Chance for White Pants: Lower Cape Fear Hospice to hold end of summer gala in August

Lower Cape Fear Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year is coming up at the end of August.

Lower Cape Fear Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year is coming up at the end of August.

The annual Last Chance for White Pants Gala raises money to ensure patients and families living with life-limiting illnesses are never denied care and support based on their ability to pay.

Gala organizers say the event is a night of great food and drink, great music by local band Sleeping Booty, and silent and live auctions offering great items.

Lower Cape Fear Hospice Chief Marketing Officer Craig Wagner says the name for the gala comes from the fact that it is always held at the end of summer.

“Our community’s signature end of summer celebration is along the southern motto of not wearing white pants after Labor Day,” Wagner said. “So predominately held at the end of August, this is meant to have a fun time to support those in need in the community.”

Wagner says his favorite part of the gala is seeing the community come together to support the mission of Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

“To see the community come together to support the Last Chance for White Pants gala is really aw-inspiring,” Wagner said. “Whether or not you’ve had a hospice experience or whether you know of someone, everyone deserves the highest quality care at the end of life and that’s really what they gala goes to support.”

If you need help figuring out what to wear to the gala, head over to either Monkee’s of Wilmington or Redix, two of this years gala sponsors and they can surely point you in the right direction for the best outfit.

The gala will be August 24th from 7 p.m. to midnight. To get your tickets to the gala go to HospiceWhitePants.org.
