One of a kind surfboard for a one of a kind organization

“It’s the opportunity to give back to a facility that never asks for anything in return,” Briel said.

Lower Cape Fear Hospice will hold their annual Last Chance for White Pants gala on Saturday, August 24th.

They always feature a live and a silent auction but this year they’re auctioning off something extra special. A one of a kind, custom made surfboard.

The surfboard is being made by Savage Surfboards and the design was done by Lower Cape Fear Hospice project manager, Kim Emory.

Kenny Briel, Savage Surfboard founder, says when his business partner Sean O’Donnell told him they had been approached to make this surfboard for the event he was hesitant to do it.

Briel says they are often contacted by charity organizations asking to custom make a surfboard for an event and he’s never really sure where the money is actually going.

But when he heard they would be making this one for Lower Cape Fear Hospice, there was no doubt in his mind that he wanted to do it.

“In the last three years I’ve lost two friends that had to go into hospice facilities,” Briel said.

He also has a niece who works at a hospice facility, so he knows what great work they do.

“It’s the opportunity to give back to a facility that never asks for anything in return,” Briel said.

The surfboard is truly one of kind. The way the design is done it can literally never be duplicated.

Briel says he knows whoever ends up with the board will cherish it.

You can bid on the board at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Last Chance for White Pants gala at Audi Cape Fear on August 24th. For more info on where to get tickets, click here.
