The Wilmington Geek Expo

 

Saturday, April 20, the Wilmington Geek Expo is coming to the Convention Center! Starting at 10:30 am (10 am for VIP), geeks from all around the Cape Fear will get to enjoy tons of exhibitors, special guests and activities!

The expo will include special guests like Greg Cipes (voice of cartoon icons like Beast Boy and Michelangelo from TMNT), Tini Howard (renowned comic book author), Gary Cohn (co-creator of DC Comics characters like Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld and Blue Devil), and many more.

Tickets start at $10 and go up to $40 for VIP passes and photo ops. Kids 10 and under are free!

11am-Realm of Randir Larp Group Meeting Room 107
Realm of Randir a rising fantasy sport known as Dagorhir, our focus is more on the combat side of larping and less on the roleplay standpoint. We will be demonstrating weapon construction and use. As well as how to play, character creation, our history, and our community.

12pm-Wilmington Cosplayers United Presents “Cosplay on the Cheap” Meeting Room 107

How not to spend your life savings making a cosplay and attending a convention. Conventions and costumes can sometimes cost an arm and a leg but they don’t have to! It all comes down to planning ahead! We will be covering some helpful tips for planning your next con and cosplay on the cheap!

1pm-Ultimate TV Trivia Meeting Room 107
Who knows the most about TV? Find out with Ultimate TV trivia! From Frasier to Futurama, from the Honeymooners to American Horror Story, it’s all covered here!

2pm-INJUSTICE 2 TOURNAMENT  Tables R1-R3
On the main floor we’ll have a little something for the gamers. Starting at 12pm we’ve got an Injustice 2 Tournament with prizes for 1st place winners.

2pm-Gary Cohn,  Tini Howard, Jacques Nyemb “Comic Writers Panel” Meeting Room 107
An open discussion with professional comic creators Gary Cohn (Blue Devil), Tini Howard (Captain America, Thanos, Rick and Morty) and Jacques Nyemb (Not so Super) to discuss comic book writing and the comic book industry.

3pm-Greg Cipes Q&A Panel Meeting Room 107
Celebrity Q&A Session with Greg Cipes and his trusty sidekick Wingman. Talk with Greg about Teen Titans Go, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ben 10, Voice Acting, Yoga, His many animations projects, and his new book!

4pm-JOIN THE EMPIRE! (We have cookies!) Meeting Room 107
The 501st Legion’s Carolina Garrison is the birthplace of the 501st. Discover your rightful place as a member of the largest Star Wars costuming organization in the Galaxy. “Bad Guys Doing Good” is our motto. Find out what is meant by that, how to join, what membership includes, and how the Legion operates. Learn how the screen-accurate costumes are created and how to create one for yourself. Discover what the 501st is all about in this fun and informative panel complete with informational handouts and yes, there will be cookies.

The Artist Alley features comic book talent such as Rob Potchak from Junior High Horrors and Michael Eury the founder of Back Issue magazine.

In addition to all of these scheduled events, the Exhibit Hall has a wide variety of vendors including the interactive Crayons with a Twist, Red Finds Games, Hand Printed shirts from Stronge Designs, and local favorite Memory Lane Comics.
