Take two. Untappd, the Wilmington-based beer app company will host their second beer festival in Charlotte this May.
“Long lines, a failure to plan for bad weather and unmet expectations were the most common complaints on social media,” Forbes said. “And some attendees likened the experience to the now famous Fyre Festival.”
But, it should come as no surprise, Untappd has made some changes, taken some precautionary measure and the festival will be organized differently this year.
It will still be held at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte but this time, there will be two different sessions hosting over 150 participating breweries from across the country.
Breweries will be spread out among the field and in the stadium concourse.
“And of course, with stronger cups, we’re ready to celebrate!” Untappd said on the Facebook event page.
We're excited to announce the 2nd annual Untappd Beer Festival in Charlotte, NC on May 16th, 2020, first in a series of…
Also new to the festival this year is a weather contingency plan.
“Breweries available on both the field and on the concourse. Should inclement weather be predicted leading up to the festival, Untappd and Bank of America Stadium will make the call to move all breweries to the concourse level.
They will have quicker entry as well.
“Bank of America Stadium staff and Untappd staff have worked hard to put together an ingress plan that is streamlined, easy to follow and expedited for all attendees.”
Each session will have a capacity of 8,000 attendees, compared to last year’s one session with over 12,500 attendees.
There will be an enhanced VIP experience as well as food trucks.
