Wilmington residents won’t have to leave the house to pick up groceries anymore. Walmart is taking the wheel, delivering groceries in the city and outlying areas.
While a monthly subscription is available, it’s not required to take advantage of this service, but know there is a delivery fee tacked on.
All you have to do is visit Walmart.com/grocery and create an order to get the ball rolling. From there, you choose a 1-hour window for delivery and pay online.
According to Walmart, the prices you see online are the same prices you see in store. Additionally, customers can use the delivery service to buy some items outside of the grocery aisle – including things like toys, baby products, electronics and more.
Walmart will also allow shoppers to order groceries online and pick them up at the store for free.
This is part of an ongoing effort to stay competitive in the grocery delivery service space. After purchasing Whole Food Market Inc., Amazon is now offering same-day grocery delivery in select areas. Target integrated Shipt, a grocery delivery startup, online with an option for shoppers to pay a per-order fee of $9.99.
