1. Old Books on Front Street 

Old Books on Front Street is the oldest bookstore in Wilmington. They are family owned and have been connecting good people with good books since 1982.

2. Papercut Books

Papercut Books is the newest independent bookstore in Wilmington. They opened about three weeks ago. They sell new and used books along with curated gifts.

3. Pomegranate Books

Pomegranate Books is a charming independent bookstore in the historic Borkenhagen House in the Winter Park neighborhood of Wilmington NC. They have been finding good homes for great books since 2005, and stock a carefully selected collection of literary and life enhancing titles.

4. McAllister & Solomon Used and Rare Books

McAllister & Solomon opened its doors in June 1993. They specialize in nice copies of better books in a variety of fields. Most of their stock of 20,000+ volumes are not currently catalogued however they welcome want lists. All their books with dust jackets are covered with mylar jacket protectors.

5. The Used Bookery

The Used Bookery, located in Wilmington at 6770 Market St., carries a variety of used books ranging from romance to textbooks.

6. Island Book Shop 

Name a better duo than beach and books. The Island Book Shop in Carolina Beach has everything you could want in a local bookstore. New and used books, beach reads, local interest and kids books. They are not open right now, however. They have a sign on their door that says they hope to open back up soon.

7. Books & Moore 

Books & Moore is located in Calabash at 10152 Beach Drive. They have new and used books, used puzzles, and you guessed it, more!

8. Pelican Bookstore

If you miss the small intimate bookstores of yesteryear, then look no farther. The Pelican Bookstore in Sunset Beach is a place where the employees have actually read the books, not just the reviews. And if you stop by enough they’ll probably start to remember your name! They carry best selling hard backs, trade and mass market paperbacks, used books, children’s books, local authors, jigsaw puzzles and greeting cards. They even have maps!

9. Azio Media: Books, Vinyl Records & Antiques 

If it’s more than just used books you’re looking for, you can find it at this shop. Azio Media has a large selection of used and rare books, vinyl records, antiques, vintage collectibles, CD’s, vintage magazines, film posters, art, prints and ephemera available in their store. They even have new listings added daily.

10. Quarter Moon Books & Gifts

Quarter Moon is a quaint, family-friendly bookstore, gift shop, and wine bar in Topsail Beach. Savor a good book while enjoying a cup of coffee, enjoy the cozy, familiar shop filled with charming treasures and comfortable clothing. Enjoy a glass of wine or favorite beer from their Wine Bar and occasionally listen to live music from local artists.
