Enchanted Airlie

Since 2005, guests from around the world have visited Airlie Gardens to take in the sparkling sights and festive sounds of the holiday season. Enjoy a self-guided walk through of Airlie Gardens and wander through 37 acres of holiday lights & music. Unfortunately, Santa will not be present this year at Enchanted Airlie.

Tickets must be purchased ahead of time, and may be sold out.

Cape Fear Festival of Trees

The annual Cape Fear Festival of Trees is back at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

The Festival of Trees is a fundraiser put on by Lower Cape Fear Hospice. They have been doing this fundraiser since the early 1980’s. Take joy in strolling around the aquarium with over 50 different decorated trees displayed. Each tree is sponsored by a local business or individual, and all have different themes. This event is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

Admission to see the festival of trees is just your admission to the aquarium. However, advanced tickets must be purchased.

Holiday Train Expo

3500 Oleander Dr, Wilmington, NC 28403 | 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. | Details

The annual Holiday Train Expo at Independence Mall in Wilmington, NC, features more than 12 unique layouts and over 30 trains. Watch as trains travel through a wonderland of landscapes, and holiday scenes. Delight in the magic of the Polar Express with a family photo-op.

Tickets for adults are just $6, ages 3-12 are $4 , and children under 3 are free.

Holiday Flea at the Brooklyn Arts Center

The Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington, NC, presents the Holiday Flea at BAC, a festive market with more than 50 local and regional vendors with vintage, retro, and up-cycled treasures, plus food trucks and the BAC bar. Admission fee is good for all three days and is $5

Ballet For Young Audiences: The Nutcracker

7th Annual Illumination Opening

At the 7th Annual Illumination Opening at Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, artists were encouraged to explore the theme of rebirth and renewal. The event features performances by the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra (4-5pm); recognition of attending artists and announcement of winners (5-5:30pm); and live music by Smoky Dunes (5:30-7:30pm).

Admission is $8-$10

Oak Island Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Pleasure Island Island of Lights Christmas Parade

Area residents young and old look forward to the annual Christmas Parade. The Christmas Parade is always the second Friday after Thanksgiving and begins at 7:30 PM. The parade proceeds from Atlanta Ave down Lake Park Blvd to the Federal Point Plaza in Carolina Beach. Floats, bands and Santa Clause will be there to add to the festivities of the season and provide a night of entertainment for families.

Charlie Brown Christmas

Leland in Lights: Grand Illumination

The concert features classic Christmas carols, 1940’s swing and ballads, and jazz standards.

Carolina Coast Harley-Davidson’s Annual Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride

This is the 29th annual Toys for Tots motorcycle ride led by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department. This escorted ride will begin at Coastal Carolina Harley Davidson at noon. They will be rocking around the Christmas tree with music by Jerome’s. A catered lunch will be served after the ride to thank participants. Everyone is welcome to this event, but no cars or slingshots will be allowed in the ride.
