5 Things to do in Wilmington NC when the weather is bad

WILMINGTON, N.C. (CAPE FEAR WEEKEND) -

Don’t let the rain ruin your weekend! Here are some great ideas for indoor activities

Bad weather can be frustrating especially when it forces us to stay indoors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Here are some ideas on things you can do in Wilmington when the weather is less than ideal. Chances are you haven’t been to all these hidden gems in the Port City.

1. Cameron Art Museum

The Cameron Art Museum is the perfect place to spend a rainy day stroll through the museums exhibits, and even grab a bite to eat. There is always something new to see here. The Cameron Art Museum has been in Wilmington for twenty years since opening in 2002. This museum has six to eight rotating exhibitions in addition to outdoor exhibitions as well. You can catch great live music at the museum on Thursday evenings.

2. Self-Love Museum

The Self-Love Museum is a great place to take the whole family. You can snap iconic photos with your loved ones in several themed areas. This spot is basically a do-it-yourself photography studio where you yourself get to interact with the art around you. This is an excellent place to take children for a truly unique experience.

You have to make an appointment to go but you can call or book online.

3. Children’s Museum

Looking for something to do with kids in Wilmington?

The Children’s Museum is a great place to take kids between the ages of 0-10. Advance tickets are recommended, but this museum is a perfect environment to engage children by interaction and play. There’s four levels of educational exhibits to explore.

4. Cape Fear Museum

This historic museum is run by New Hanover County. It was founded in 1898, and hosts a collection of more than fifty two thousand artifacts. One of our favorite sections is the exhibit dedicated to native basketball legend Michael Jordan. If you want to see the entire museum it will take you about three hours. The museum is close to downtown Wilmington and is near great restaurants, and other historic sites.

5. Battle House Laser Tag

Sometimes when we are stuck indoors with bad weather we need to just find a space for the whole family to exert some energy. Laser tag is a great family activity that everyone can enjoy.
