The Sea Turtle Rescue Center is again open to all visitors with public tours on Fridays and Saturdays. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, passionate, and informative.

Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project

This non-profit volunteer organization works to protect the sea turtles of Wrightsville Beach, NC. Between May 15 and August 31, trained volunteers look for sea turtle nesting activity signs.

They also conduct Turtle Talk, a free educational event. You will learn about Wrightsville Beach’s nesting sea turtle population. Plus, you will find out about ways we can help preserve and protect our local North Carolina sea turtles.

The Aquarium at Fort Fisher

Only 18 miles outside Wilmington, the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm daily. The Aquarium was recently named among the best aquariums in the United States.

The sea turtles are among the Aquarium’s most famous animals, with many species on display, including green and loggerhead sea turtles.

Sea Turtle Camp, Wilmington

Sea Turtle Camp is a hands-on marine biology experience for the youth between 10 to 17. The Camp’s mission is to cultivate a love and respect for the ocean while inspiring coastal conservation through education.

During your time at the Sea Turtle Camp, you will take part in water-based activities, visit real live sea turtles, and learn about some of the inhabitants of North Carolina’s eco-system.

If your child is into sea turtles or considering a career in marine biology, this is the camp to send them to. While they’re away at camp, you can spend your lazy days following the Cape Fear Ale Trail.
