Flytrap Brewing a small neighborhood brewery named after one of Wilmington’s notable residents

WILMINGTON, N.C. (CAPE FEAR WEEKEND) -

Tucked into the Brooklyn Arts District, Flytrap brewing is far enough from the tourist enclave of historic downtown Wilmington. It’s a great neighborhood brewery with a cozy indoor taproom, and a large outdoor patio.

Flytrap brewing is working with a small batch three barrel system which might be one of the smallest in the area, but don’t let that deter you. This guarantees that the beers are always served fresh. They might not have a large barrel size, but they do have many fermenters so they can keep their core beers steadily stocked.

They also serve numerous wines if beer just isn’t your thing.

The brewery is named after one of Wilmington’s special native residents the Venus fly trap which only grow naturally within a 70 mile radius of Wilmington. The carnivorous plant is now protected, and you’ll land a hefty fine if you disturb a wild one.

Every night of the week you’ll find that something is happening at the neighborhood brewery. Monday they host music bingo, and Tuesday they play vinyl records. You’ll always find a delectable food trucked parked outside in the evening hours.

This makes Flytrap brewing a must go if you are interested in trying the best brews in the Cape Fear region. They are constantly experimenting with new flavors that there is always something for everyone.

The craft beer scene in Wilmington is thriving with over 30 breweries and counting you can follow the Cape Fear Ale Trail which will allow you to explore the best brews in the Cape Fear region.
