St. Patrick’s Day Festival & Parade - Saturday March 11, 2023
Parade begins at 11:00am | North Front Street & Market Street
The parade will be held on Market Street in downtown Wilmington. The event starts at 11:30 AM and ends at 12:30 PM, so you have plenty of time to get down there before it’s over.
The parade will go down N. Front Street, then head right down Princess Street and left on N Water Street toward the grandstand at Riverfront Park where the St. Patrick’s Day Festival takes place immediately following the parade.
The parade route is only about 2 miles long, so if you’re up for a walk and want to see all of the floats and participants, plan on being there for about an hour or so (this includes getting into place). The streets will be closed off from 7 AM until 2 PM.
the Festival Begins Immediately after the parade.
The St. Patrick’s Day Festival will feature live music, dancing, food, drinks, and vendors. The fun wraps up at 6 p.m.

Learn About The History of St. Patrick’s Day
St Patrick’s Day is a religious and cultural holiday that honors Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The Feast Day of St. Patrick is celebrated on March 17th each year. On this day, many people wear green clothing and drink Guinness beer to honor their Irish ancestry and culture.
St Patrick was born in Roman Britain around 385 CE (Common Era) during the time when the Roman Empire controlled much of Europe and Britain; however, he was kidnapped by Irish pirates when he was 16 years old. He spent 6 years as a slave before escaping back to his home country where he became a priest at age 26 or 27 years old!
St Patrick then returned to Ireland where he converted thousands of people from paganism into Christianity through his preaching ministry which lasted approximately 40 years until his death around 493 AD
