Calling all Swifties: Dance the night away silently with Taylor Swift

WILMINGTON, N.C. (CAPE FEAR WEEKEND) - Swifties get ready for an unforgettable silent disco night fully dedicated to Taylor Swift. The event at Hi-Wire Brewing Co. will be filled with bumping music and plenty of Taylor Swift festivities.

Now here’s the concept: It’s a night to throw on your dancing shoes and dance to the music, but the room is filled with silence. Each person will be wearing a pair of headphones to listen to music and there’s three different music channels to choose from.

The first is channel red, which will play all music from Taylor Swift herself.

The second is channel blue, which will play music from Taylor’s friends. We’re talking Selena Gomez, Lorde, Ellie Goulding, Bleachers, HAIM, Ed Sheeran, Avril Lavigne, Olivia Rodrigo, Joe Jonas and that list goes on.

The third is channel green, which is the music with all the beef. Any foe to be on Taylors bad list will be playing on this channel. That’s Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Calvin Harris, Nicki Manaj... this list could get long but good thing we have a blank space.

“People have a lot of fun with it. You see crazy outfits and it’s just a fun time for people to just be themselves in the dark, listening to music and dancing,” said Sara Carter, the taproom manager at Hi-Wire Brewing Co.

An unexpected sell-out on Saturday gave the brewery no choice but to add another night of music on Sunday. But the concept itself is one that is usually unheard of...

“It’s dark in here and then the headphones have different colors, so you can see what station everybody else is listening to. So it’s really fun to kind of switch back and forth and see what’s playing,” said Carter.

The theme is all Taylor, all night. Which involves making friendship bracelets, just like concert goers do for her highly talked about world tour.

“A big thing at her concert is that people are making these bracelets and trading them amongst themselves at the show. So we figured it would be fun for people to be able to kind of make their own here and a little memory for those that can’t afford to go to a Taylor Swift concert,” said Carter.

She says that Hi-Wire Brewing has done silent disco in the past, but never a full night dedicated to the pop sensation herself... and never a ticket sale that reached their 400-person capacity.

“It’s really quiet in here. It’s very unusual. But you always know when like a big hit comes on. Everybody starts singing and dancing along, everybody changes to the same station. So it’s fun to watch everybody get excited.”

Because of high demand, the brewery already has other plans in place for the near future.

“Wilmington really just loved it. We were very surprised by the turnout and how quickly it sold out, so we added a second date right away. We’ll also be doing another one in October for Halloween,” said Carter/

Can you guess the theme of that night? … Spooky Halloween music!

This is a ticketed event and Saturday is sold out, but there’s still tickets available for Sunday. The event is from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. and tickets are going fast, be sure to purchase your ticket here.

So, forget your reputation and dress up like your favorite Taylor era and we’ll see you at Hi-Wire Brewing Co.
