Fireworks by the Sea & Boardwalk Blast

The last night to watch Pleasure Island’s weekly firework display on the boardwalk. The best place to view this spectacular show is on the beach strand located in front of the historic Carolina Beach Boardwalk, which is where live music plays at the Gazebo stage. So, pack up the family and head to the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach.
The music starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the fireworks at 9:00 p.m.. Please check their website and social media for latest updates.
Friday Night Live!

The last Friday night to enjoy a free live concert riverside at the Port City Marina. Each Friday the concert kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a great local band beginning the celebration. This weeks local band is Worst Case, who is Onslow County’s fast-rising rock band based out of Sneads Ferry, NC. They’re extremely versatile and cover rock from the past five decades. Covering artists ranging from Black Sabbath, Van Halen, and Pink Floyd to Tool, Volbeat, and Rage Against the Machine. They’re followed by a nationally touring tribute band representing some of your favorite artists and playing your favorite tunes. This weeks band is Departure, a Journey tribute band. Moon Taxi in Concert

Start your Saturday morning off with an exciting Disc Golf Pro tournament. We often see professional golfers on the green, now see how it’s done with a frisbee. This event is part of the Professional Disc Golf Association, and they chose Northern Regional Park as part of their tour because it’s a nationally recognized and maintained course that proves challenges for the pros. The event is free for spectators to watch. After the fun, you are a few minutes’ drive to restaurants, shops, breweries and hotels for an exciting weekend.

On the evening of the new moon, join a guided tour through the Manor House seeking possible paranormal activities. This family-friendly festival, celebrating local Latino and Hispanic culture, recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month with free entertainment, dancing, music, free children’s games, activities and more. Attendees can also identify animal tracks, fish identification, face painting, water quality, aquatic insects, owl pellets, waterfowl identification, arts and crafts, over 20 nature-themed exhibits. Of course, paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks are also available to rent.
Pier-2-Pier Open Water Swim Race

Accept the exciting open water challenge of the Annual Pier-2-Pier Swim Race at Wrightsville Beach. This annual event entails swimming approximately 2 miles between Johnnie Mercers Pier and the Crystal Pier around marker buoys. The starting point for the race will be determined on race day in accordance with the ocean current. The race starts at 9:00 a.m., swimmers must register beforehand online but the event is free for spectators.
Sylvan Esso, No Rules (tour) with Grrl

It’s the opening weekend of an immersive experience unlike the traditional haunted houses with which fans and patrons are familiar. The intent is to create the feeling of being actively placed inside the plot of a horror movie, offering customers far more than the expected jump scares. The attraction will operate weekends through its final night on Halloween and will include extended hours during two “festival weekends” at the end of October. Historically the largest single distance one day race from northern Virginia to Florida, this has been a favorite for both spectators and participants since 1979. A highly anticipated USA Triathlon sanctioned event consisting of a 1,350 meter swim, an 11.5 mile bike and a 5K run in Wrightsville Beach, which makes great use of Wrightsville Beach’s beachy terrain. Youth distances: Swim: 100 meters, Bike: 4 miles and Run: 1.6 miles.
