  • The UNCW Office of the Arts are continuing their Curbside Cinema series with The Sandlot this Friday. Movie starts at 8 p.m. and you must pay your admission in advanced ($28 per carload, plus tax and online fee).

Race for the Planet (Virtual)

Virtual | Details

  • The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher presents the virtual Race for the Planet, a running race open to anyone, anywhere, with the ease of an app. Race options include 5K, 10K and 13.1 Miles. Complete the Race for the Planet anytime between April 16 and April 25. Proceeds from this event will support the conservation and sustainability efforts of the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Kiwanis Annual Plant Sale

Hampstead Kiwanis Park | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Details

  • The Kiwanis Club of Hampstead is holding their annual plant sale. They will have a wide variety of plants. You can call 910.270.2542 if you have a special plant you would like to order.

Take Part in Nature Art

Airlie Gardens | 1 p.m. | Details

  • Join Airlie Gardens Education staff on a deep dive into Maria Sibylla Merian’s scientific illustrations and her discoveries of butterfly metamorphosis! The staff will provide materials to do a step-by-step how to create a biological illustration of your own!

NHRMC Wilmington NC Marathon Madness

Johnnie Mercers Pier | 7 a.m. | Details

  • The NHRMC Wilmington NC Marathon Madness includes a Marathon and Half Marathon beginning in Wrightsville Beach and a 5K and 1-Mile race that starts in downtown Wilmington.

  • Latimer House in downtown Wilmington, NC, presents its Annual Book-a-Brac Sale. Masks are required. Proceeds benefit The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society.

White Elephant Yard Sale

Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens | 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Details

  • The Burgwin-Wright House presents its annual White Elephant Yard Sale featuring antiques, jewelry, art, furnishings, and more. Masks are required. Proceeds benefit the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens.

Rummage for Rescue

Animal Lovers Thrift Shop, Burgaw | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Details

  • Monty’s Home presents Rummage for Rescue at the Animal Lovers Thrift Shop in Burgaw, NC. The event features a sale of hundreds of donated household items as well as some animal themed items at a huge discount. Proceeds benefit new pups entering the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program.

Riverfront Farmers’ Market

Waterline Brewing | 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Details

  • The market features local farmers, produce, arts and crafts, music, and more. Items change weekly depending on the season and include fresh fruits and berries, vegetables and herbs, eggs and cheeses, plants and flowers, meat and seafood, doggie treats, tea, honey, fresh baked goods, jams and jellies, wine, art, and more. Rain or shine.

Race for the Planet (In-Person)

NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher | 8 – 11 a.m. | Details

  • The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher presents Race for the Planet, an in-person 5K for runners of all skill levels. All registration is online (no in-person registration). Packet pick-up is limited to one person. Proceeds support the conservation and sustainability efforts of the three North Carolina Aquariums.
