  • The Shakespeare Youth Company presents A Very Midsummer Madness at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington, NC. The production features scenes based upon the Shakespeare’s famous quote “This is very midsummer madness” from his play A Midsummer Night’s DreamPlease note: Donations gratefully accepted. Doors open at 6:30pm. Picnics welcome. Light concessions available for purchase.

4th Friday Gallery Night

  • The Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County presents 4th Friday Gallery Night, a monthly self-guided tour of galleries, studios and art spaces featuring exhibitions of various artistic genres including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, photography, glass, metals, wood, ceramics, mixed media and more. 4th Fridays also include opening receptions, artist discussions, demonstrations, live music, wine, food and other art-related activities. Participating venues include Aces Gallery, Bryand Gallery, The ArtWorks, Burgwin-Wright House, Century 21, Port City Java, Port City Pottery, Valhalla Gallery, Gallery Citrine, and The Daniels Gallery.

The production features Frank Sinatra’s story told through the combined range of four virtuoso vocalists, performing the best of his songs including Fly Me to the Moon, I Get A Kick Out Of You, New York, New York and—of course—My Way.

Mud Day 2021

The Children’s Museum of Wilmington | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Details

  • Join the Children’s Museum of Wilmington for the messiest fun you can imagine. Mud Day encourages families and children to connect with the earth, learn more about our  soil, and discover the messy joy that comes with playing in the mud. Wear old clothes, bring a towel, and a change of clothes. They will have a rinsing area to clean off.

  • Join Country music star, Joe Nichols at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery in Elizabethtown, NC. Opening for Joe will be local favorite The Pink Slips Band and Lewis N Clark. Lewis N Clark features Von Lewis from the movie Greenbook (2018) as Bobby Rydell, and Abbey Lewis who got her start in country and western and is returning home for this concert.

Here & Queer Festival

Hi-Wire Brewing Wilmington | 4 – 10 p.m. | Details

  • This Pride Festival kicks off with a market featuring 12+ local LGBTQ-owned businesses from 4-7pm, and then stick around for a drag show from 8-10pm. A portion of proceeds from a special can release will benefit Port City Pride. All of the vendors and local allies have put together an amazing raffle that will benefit local LGBTQ+ non-profit The Frank Harr Foundation. No tickets necessary! All ages welcome.

Wilmington’s Pride Picnic

DREAMS Center for Arts Education | 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Details

  • Wilmington’s second annual Pride Picnic. Games, food, music, and family fun. Free hot dogs, and hamburgers, face painting, music by DJ GO AWFF, slam poetry from Tim Joyner, performances by MoB Theatre!
