Lip Sync For a Cure

Ironclad Brewery | 6 – 10 p.m. | Details

  • Lip Sync For a Cure at Ironclad Brewery in downtown Wilmington, NC, features a chance to perform two songs for a grand prize of $500. The event also includes a silent auction and food catered by Quanto Basta. Tickets will be a $25 donation at the door or online, food catered by Quanto Basta is included in your donation. 100% of proceeds donated to American Cancer Society.

Curbside Cinema: Moana

UNCW Kenan Auditorium | 8 p.m. | Details

  • The UNCW Office of the Arts are continuing their Curbside Cinema series with Moana this Friday. Movie starts at 8 p.m. and you must pay your admission in advanced ($28 per carload, plus tax and online fee).

Kentucky Derby Party – Rebellion NC

  • Who’s ready to derby? Watch the Kentucky Derby at Rebellion NC and be sure to dress the part! Wear your seersuckers and break out the funky hats too. They’re expecting nothing but the best and they will be voting for their favorites. In addition to the costume contest, you can look forward to $8 Old Forester pours and Woodford Reserve Mint Juleps.

Kentucky Derby Party – The Blind Elephant

The Blind Elephant | 2 – 7 p.m. | Details

  • And they’re off! Join The Blind Elephant for their first event in a year as they host a Kentucky Derby Party! Juleps, hats, races…they’re going to have all the derby fun along with prizes for those who pick the winning horse for each race. They’ll be serving up specialty juleps along with the classics, so stop by and cheer on your favorites as they watch the most exciting two minutes in sports!

7th Annual Derby4Dogs

Virtual | Around 6:15 p.m. | Details

  • The 7th Annual Derby4Dogs Garden Party at the paws4people National Headquarters in Castle Hayne, NC, is hosted by WECT’s Meghan Donohue with a special appearance by WECT Anchor Jon Evans, who will call the Puppy Derby. Tickets for the event in person are sold out, however the race itself will be streamed online around 6:15 p.m.

7th Annual Wilmington Jewish Film Festival

Virtual | Details

  • The 7th Annual Wilmington Jewish Film Festival is a virtual event highlighted by seven feature films and an assortment of short films. The Crossing is available Saturday, May 1, at 7pm through Tuesday, May 4, at 7pm. The Tattooed Torah is an animated short film that runs May 1 – May 4.

  • This market will feature a collection of some of Wilmington’s finest creators from whom you can find the perfect Mother’s Day gift.

Legacy Architectural Salvage Spring Market

1831 Dawson St, Wilmington | 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Details

  • This event is the kick off event for National Preservation month and will feature vendors who specialize in vintage, antiques, salvage, upcycled, reused and recycled materials.

Willie Stargell 5K Road Race

936 Town Center Dr, Wilmington | 8:30 a.m. | Details

  • This spring, get out of the house and run/walk the Willie Stargell 5K Road Race. There is a 1 Mile, 5K, and virtual option! The Willie Stargell 5K raises money to support kidney disease research, and patient care and support. Baseball Hall of Fame Member Willie Stargell of the Pittsburgh Pirates, passed away from kidney disease in 2001. The Willie Stargell Foundation gives hope to those fighting this disease.

Drive in Movie Night at the River

580 River Rd SE, Belville | 7 – 10 p.m. | Details

  • Family fun with a drive in movie – The Incredibles. Clearing parking lot from 6 to 7. Gate will reopen at 7. You can line up pre entry at the Belville Elementary School. Volunteers will be directing with parking. Trolley Stop Hotdogs and Snowie of the Carolinas will be on site.
