Curbside Cinema: Hairy Parachute Shorts Block

UNCW Kenan Auditorium Parking Lot | 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. | Details

  • The UNCW Office of the Arts are continuing their Curbside Cinema series with Hairy Parachute Shorts Block this Friday.  The movie is a part of the 26th Annual Cucalorus Film Festival. Parking begins at 7 p.m., movie starts at 8 p.m. and you must pay your admission in advanced ($28 per carload, plus tax and online fee).

Free Friday Night Drive-in Concert

Kure Beach | 6:30 – 8:30 | Details

  • The Drive-In Concert at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area in Kure Beach, NC, features the Polar Bear Blues Band. Gates open at 5:30pm. Beer, soda and water available for sale.

Bluegrass In The Park

Thalian Hall | 6:30 p.m. | Details

  • Thalian Hall in downtown Wilmington, NC, presents Bluegrass In The Park featuring Massive Grass performing at Innes Park, in front of the original Princess Street entrance to Thalian Hall.

Illumination 2020 Opening Day

Cameron Art Museum | 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. | Details

  • Cameron Art Museum (CAM) presents the opening day of Illumination 2020 featuring lantern awards to be announced shortly after 5pm, and live music from 5-7pm. Masks and social distancing required. All exhibition galleries will be open during the evening hours.

  • The 26th Annual Cucalorus Festival in Wilmington, NC, celebrates independent and international film, creativity on stage, and innovation in entrepreneurship. This year’s event features 80 films selected for more than 50 online events, plus a series of Drive-in experiences at UNCW’s Curbside Cinema.

2020 Cape Fear Festival of Trees

Mayfaire Town Center | 12 – 8 p.m. | Details

  • The Cape Fear Festival of Trees at Mayfaire Town Center in Wilmington, NC, features a winter wonderland provided by local businesses, groups, and families which sponsor and decorate holiday trees. Proceeds support Lower Cape Fear LifeCare’s mission to ensure care and support to families in the community living with serious and life-limiting illness.

Paws and Pose with Santa

Chandler’s Wharf | 1:30 – 5:45 p.m. | Details

  • Paws and Pose with Santa at Chandler’s Wharf in downtown Wilmington is a fundraiser for paws4people, which raises, trains and places Assistance Dogs with civilians, veterans, and children with disabilities at no cost to them. Props for the dogs will be available.

Kure Beach Holiday Market

Ocean Front Park | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Details

  • Get a jump start on your holiday shopping while supporting local talent. You can enjoy beautiful ocean view as you browse through items handcrafted by our talented artists, crafters, and food vendors.

German Christmas Market

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Details

  • The 3rd Annual German Christmas Market at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC, features German gifts, arts and crafts, seasonal decorations, live music, baked goods, an assortment of German beers and Gluhwein, and meals To Go. No on-site dining. Masks and Social Distancing required. Drive-through meal purchases available.

Cucalorus Curbside Cinema: Dramarama

UNCW Kenan Auditorium parking lot | 7 p.m. | Details 

  • The Cucalorus Festival presents Curbside Cinema, drive-in movies in the Kenan Auditorium parking lot on the UNCW campus in Wilmington, NC. The feature presentation Saturday night is Dramarama, a love letter to drama nerds, late bloomers, and the intense friendships of youth. Running time: 1 hour, 31 minutes. Parking begins at 7pm. Admission fee is per carload.
