2021 Autumn with Topsail Festival

Historical Society of Topsail Island | Details

  • The 32nd Autumn with Topsail Festival on the grounds of the Historic Assembly Building features live music with The Notorious Clam Slammers (Friday evening, 6pm), The Carolina Band (Saturday, noon), the North Tower Band (Saturday, 5pm), and Band of Oz (Sunday, 1pm); a beer and wine tent; juried art show and sale; pancake breakfast; and a food court. See a full list of events here. Proceeds benefit the Historical Society of Topsail Island, a volunteer non-profit organization which owns and operates the Assembly Building and Missiles and More Museum. HOURS: Friday, 5-8:30pm (no vendors); Saturday, 7:30am to 8pm; Sunday, 8am to 4pm.

Columbus County Agriculture Fair

886 Prison Camp Road, Whiteville | 3 – 11 p.m. | Details

  • The 41st Annual Columbus County Agriculture Fair in Whiteville, NC, features midway rides, high-wire pirate shows, demolition derbies, fireworks, live music, livestock exhibit & show, talent competitions, community exhibits, and fair food. General admission fee is $8 ($4 on Thursday) and free for kids under age 6. On Carload Sunday, admission and unlimited rides are $40 per carload for all legally seated occupants. Regular-price ride wristbands (for riders 36 inches and taller) are $20 ($16 on Thursday). HOURS: Tuesday, 3:30-11pm; Wednesday and Thursday, 5-11pm; Friday and Saturday, 3-11pm; Sunday, 1-9pm.

  • The Carolina’s most extreme haunted attraction is back this year with new scenes and scares. All ages are welcome! They recommend supervision for anyone under 10 years old. Please Note: Only groups of 8 or less can enter at once. If your group is larger, they will break you into smaller groups and you’ll be right behind each other.

Phobia Haunted Trail: CarnEvil in the Woods

  • Phobia Haunted Trail: CarnEvil in the Woods in Leland, NC, features an outdoor Haunted House with live actors. They will not touch you, but they will work to give you nightmares. Visitors will experience scenes that some people find frightening and disturbing.

Wild Horse Preserve at Grayce Wynds Farm | 4 – 7 p.m. | Details

  • Wild Horse Preserve at Grayce Wynds Farm in Supply, NC, presents Ponies & Pumpkins featuring hay rides, hand-led pony rides ($5), a pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, and pony petting. Hot dog-hamburger dinner plates for $10. Proceeds support the Wild Horse Preserve.

Maze Craze at Galloway Farm

Galloway Farm, Home of Maze Craze | Details

  • Experience one of Southeastern NC’s largest fall mazes. Maze Craze’s 13-acre maze has close to 5 miles of challenging pathways. Hidden inside the maze are 10 checkpoints to find. Play digitally with their QR code hunt.

NC Oyster Festival

  • Celebrate everything Oyster as OIB Town Center Park is transformed into a walking district offering a variety of foods, crafts, contests and musical performances, and of course, oysters. With the support of the dedicated committee of volunteers, the Town of Ocean Isle Beach, many local businesses and the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce, the NC Oyster Festival is your destination for fun.

4-H Pumpkin Palooza

New Hanover County Arboretum | 9 a.m. | Details

  • A family-friendly event for children of all ages. Two sessions are available for attendees to enjoy the event: 4-6 p.m. or 7-9 p.m., and tickets will be limited to ensure a reduced capacity and safety for visitors.  Fun new activities and returning fan favorites like the UNCW mad scientists, electrifying skeleton, horse insides out, NC Aquarium scales & tails, and the NHC Public Library storytellers will be sharing a scary tale or two. Enter a carved pumpkin to help illuminate the gardens during the 4-H Pumpkin Palooza. Drop off and register your pre-carved pumpkins between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. You will be given one Pumpkin-Palooza pass per person with a pumpkin entry. Ribbons will be given for the funniest, scariest, or most original. All ages can enter (children 7 and under – painted pumpkins only). Pumpkins not picked up by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 will be composted.

Veg-Out Wilmington
