New Year’s Day Pig Pickin’

  • Seven Mile Post is going to cook a pig and have traditional southern black eyed peas and collards to bring us all good luck and prosperity to the new year! We all deserve to start the new year off on the right foot! Party starts at 11am New Years Day. $12 a plate. Ironyard Axe House will be there to if you need to release any left over 2020 frustrations!

Wrightsville Plunge (Live and Virtual)

  • Kick off your New Year by Plungin’ for a Purpose! The 6th Annual Wrightsville Plunge benefits Communities In Schools of Cape Fear, which works to help keep kids in school, and on the path to graduation. Festivities begin on the beach at 11:00 behind The Oceanic, between public access #’s 36 & 37. The Plunge will take place at 12:00 and 12:30

New Year’s Day Comedy Showcase

  • Start the year off right and head to The Brewer’s Kettle for an afternoon of stand-up comedy! $5 Admission. Outdoor show. Extra parking available at the bank across the street. Carolina Beach State Park Trail Half Marathon & 5K

Carolina Beach State Park | 8 a.m. | Details

  • The Carolina Beach State Park Half Marathon & 5K is a trail race in Carolina Beach, NC. With 13.1 and 3.1 mile courses, all levels of speed and ability are allotted an opportunity to race in one of the most unique setting in North Carolina. Rolling pine laced single track along the coast, offers participants tons of interesting terrain to take-in while they put out max effort for unique prizes. After the race, participants (21+) can enjoy one beer on the patio at the American Legion – note, this could change based on the Governor’s Executive Order in place during the race.

  • Port City Playwrights’ Project presents its inaugural online production, The Power of One: A Virtual Monologue Showcase. The show is an assortment of eleven short, original plays that were cast, rehearsed, and filmed in accordance with social distancing protocols. With 10 viewings available, both matinees and evenings, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a theatrical experience from the safety and comfort of their own homes.
