The 2020 Hampstead Wedding Showcase
Saturday from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. head over to the Olde Point Country Club for fun and information. Activities include bridal fashion shows, a bride dance-off, plus other prizes & giveaways. If you are among the first 200 brides to register, you will receive a FREE VIP goodie bag. It’s free to get in.

Sip & See: A Boutique Bridal Show
The River Room in downtown Wilmington will host their bridal show from 1 p.m. – 4 pm. Saturday.
You can enjoy champagne while you check out different displays for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Admission is free for couples and only $7 for guests. Tickets can be found on eventbrite.com.
Wilmington’s Perfect Wedding and Fashion Show
If you’re busy Saturday or looking to see what else is out there, the Coastline Convention Center has an option for you. Sunday from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. you can sample food and cake and get a glimpse of some breathtaking bridal gowns and more for your big day.

Disappointed by the lack of recent snow? Take a snow day!
It may be a Saturday, but the Pine Valley Library isn’t letting that stop them from making the most of the warm winter. From 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. stop by to play in over 300 square feet of man-made snow. Frosty the snowman will be on hand, along with the Snow Sisters, Elsa and Anna from Disney’s Frozen, provided by Fairytales & Dreams by the Sea. The best part? all free! Brunswick County Polar Plunge
From matrimony to the water… take the plunge to support the Brunswick County Special Olympics.
The first-ever Brunswick County Polar Plunge will be held Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Middleton Park in Oak Island.
Enjoy a Care Fair, food trucks, vendors and games, Pro Wrestling a parade of costumes, line dancing, a torch run and a pep rally. The day’s festivities will be capped off with a plunge starting at 2:30 p.m. $50 ensures you a chance to plunge and a t-shirt. For an extra $15, your pet can plunge with you. If you’re too chicken to plunge, you can pay $30 to show everyone you’re content with staying on land.

Ok… so these may take a little leg work on your end, mainly in purchasing tickets where applicable. But I call these “Quick Hits” because they’re exactly what you would expect them to be, concerts, plays, or outings that are easily explained by their name.
Front Street Brewery’s 25th Anniversary Oyster Roast

The Sound of Music at Thalian Hall
Rogers and Hammerstein’s acclaimed classic will have matinee performances at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and a showing Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $33 dollars and can be purchased at the box office or Thalianhall.org
Surf City Business Expo
Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. the Surf City Business Expo will emanate from he Surf City Community Center. Shop from more than 50 local businesses specializing in Home Decoration, Jewelry, Fitness, Beauty, Education, Health Services & more. Admission is free.
At the Wilson Center this weekend
- Cirque FLIP Fabrique presents “Blizzard,” a breathtaking and elegant performance of dance and acrobatics. The show takes place Saturday at 7:30 Tickets start around $30.
- Engelbert Humperdinck will take to the stage Sunday at 7:30. His songs, “Release Me” and “After the Lovin’” have been classics for decades. Tickets Start around $50.
