You’re a wizard, Harry. Okay, well maybe not actually, but you’ll certainly feel like one if you rent out his childhood home for a night or two.
It’s not the most picture-perfect getaway. After all, it is the spot where Lord Voldemort killed Harry’s parents right in front of him and then attempted to kill Harry himself. But it is currently listed on Airbnb for Harry Potter fans, tourists, or anyone to rent.
In the books and movies the house is revisited in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One when Harry and Hermione stop by the fictional town of Godric’s Hollow to pay respects to Harry’s mom and dad.
According to USA Today, in real life, the De Vere House in Lavenham, England, is a 14th century cottage bed and breakfast in the middle of a medieval village.
It has two bedrooms, a dining room, and a reading room.
Being Harry Potter’s childhood home is not the only thing this house is known for. There are a handful of legends, myths, and stories that go along with the home.
“It is no surprise that the house, given its history, its associations, and its other unique qualities, has and continues to attract a legend all of its own,” according to the house’s website.
