Amid the pandemic people are still following their dreams of owning a small business in a community they love. It may look a little different, but that dream is still real.

New burger dive, Mess Hall, opened its doors in its new home in the Cargo District last Thursday.

From breakfast burritos to simple yet creative and messy burgers made with care, Mess Hall fits it all.

We’re getting closer every day! Pumped to officially have our menu up, big thanks to @katchristianart for making it look so good!

“I was starting to look into getting a food truck towards the end of last year/early this year, and got put in touch with the developer of the Cargo District by my buddy who owns Queen St Barber,” said Mess Hall owner Sam Steger. “I met with him and we hit it off, and what I was trying to do works really well with what’s going on over here, so here we are.”

After being sold out on their grand opening July 23 by late afternoon according to their Facebook page, this is a place clearly approved by locals and those just passing through.

Steger made sure his menu caters to the many different taste buds of the Port City. Which ever dish you pick it comes with a childhood favorite, tater tots. If you just want the tots, Mess Hall has the bowl for you.

Just looking at images on their social media, the Tot Bowl will have you drooling until you taste for yourself.

Loaded with all the good ingredients, including of course cheese, it’s one way to satisfy your hunger.

If it’s a messy burger you crave like the owner’s favorite, the “Samburger” then you can’t go wrong with any of their selections. Steger thinks of everyone with his vegan options on the menu as well.

Opening a business can be stressful but doing that during a pandemic did not stop Steger.

“It’s a pretty crazy idea, but I don’t think I’ve ever done anything the easy way, so I think it makes sense that’s how I ended up doing it,” Steger said. “I’m just really pumped to get a chance to be a part of the community here, it’s a really special place.”

If you’re a local or visiting this amazing region having Mess Hall on your foodie list is a must.
