Battleship North Carolina recently launched the Battle Star Collection which features finely crafted products made from materials taken directly from the ship during periods of restoration.

The collection includes knives, crafted by Ironman Forge, a North Carolina native, as well as other pieces such as anchors, propellers, and more, crafted by Edwards Inc.

“We’re in the process of doing some repairs to the hull of the battleship and when we do that, we replace the old rusted steel with new steels and so we have that old steel to work with,” said Battleship Marketing Director, Stacie Hidek. “Rather than send it to the scrap heap we wanted to find a way to share that with people and the way we are doing that is by repurposing it in these products.”

Each item will vary slightly as the material remains un-retouched. The products can act as nice pieces for a mantle, bookcase, or desk.

“We are proud to be able to share the USS North Carolina with the public by selling heirloom-quality products that repurpose the historic materials that built this great American battleship,” said Captain Terry Bragg, Executive Director of the Battleship.
