It’s inevitable. Summer will soon be coming to an end. I’m sure some are wishing it would last forever and for some, the end can’t come soon enough. But if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that one of the best parts of summer is the ice cream.
Those hot summer nights with a cold ice cream cone in your hand at your favorite local ice cream spot really can’t be beat.
We all have our ice cream go-to places, but now is the time to step out of our ice cream comfort zones, live it up, and hit as many of the local ice cream spots as you possibly can before summer 2019 comes to a close for good.
With that being said... Here is our guide to the ultimate end-of-summer ice cream road trip in the Cape Fear.

They suggest a “Squigley” has up to 2 items from their long list of delicious fruits, candies, and baked goods, but no more than 3. Those can be “squiggled” into a custom flavor of ice cream using their patented “Squigley” machines. They are served in either a fresh, homemade waffle cone, or a cup and topped off with a famous “you’ve been squiggled” sticker. They can make over 4050 different flavor combinations of the Squigley. They were even just named one of the best ice cream places in the US by NBC’s Today Show!
