“Cheaper than therapy. Healthier than liquor.” That’s the motto of the new rage room that is set to officially open in Wilmington in November.
“Cheaper than therapy. Healthier than liquor.” That’s the motto of the new rage room that is set to officially open in Wilmington Saturday, November 2nd.
Time to Rage is a “rage room where you can break things and feel better.”
Rage rooms started popping up around the country a few years ago. According to Vice, the first one opened in Japan in 2008.
They are essentially businesses where people can vent their rage by destroying objects in a room. Take a sledgehammer to an old TV, hurl a ceramic plate at a wall, smash an empty wine bottle on the floor. Choose your own adventure.
But the purpose of them isn’t just to let out your rage. According to an article from USA Today, rage rooms can be used as a form of stress relief as well.
At Time to Rage, you can choose from different packages that include plates and glasses or you can customize your experience with larger items like a printer or television.
“During a Time to Rage smash room session customers become a demolition crew with the opportunity smash up everything from plates, glasses and printers to televisions,” Time to Rage owner Travis Suber said. “Protective equipment and customer’s preferred musical selections are provided during the session.”
And one of the best parts about it – you don’t have to worry about any of the clean up.
“Customers get the chance to unleash their rage and destruction and a smash room employee will handle all the clean up afterwards,” Suber said.
They are having a grand opening on November 2nd from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. You can try a 5 minute session for $10 that day. There will also be free treats, giveaways, and swag. They plan to cut the ribbon at 9 a.m. followed by an open viewing of Time to Rage. Then after that, it’s time to rage, of course.
