What’s happening in the Cape Fear this month?

There’s plenty happening in the area this month to help you get your new year/new decade started on a good note. And we’ve compiled a list of a lot of those things here.


  • Great Gatsby Party at Blind ElephantJan. 10

    • It’s time to dust off that zoot suit and polish those pearls because The Blind Elephant is going to have their red carpet rolled out and the giggle water flowing.
  • Floating Lantern Ceremony at the Cameron Art MuseumJan. 12

    • Remembrance, Reflection, Gratitude and New Beginnings. Lantern messaging and decorating begins at 4PM. Floating begins at 5PM through 7PM
  • The SpongeBob Musical at the Wilson CenterJan. 13 – 14

    • Explore the depths of theatrical innovation in THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL, 2018 Best Musical winner of the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, where the power of optimism really can save the world.
  • 155th Anniversary of the Second Battle of Fort FisherJan. 18 – 19

    • Fort Fisher State Historic Site commemorates the 155th Anniversary of the Second Battle of Fort Fisher with a tactical battle scenario each day (Saturday, 1pm and Sunday, 10am) with hundreds of reenactors, living history demonstrations, musket demonstrations, artillery firings, guided tours, 19th century wet plate photography, and special guest speakers and authors.
