Board game fans, rejoice! Wilmington’s first ever “board game café” is now open!

The Sideboard Board Game Cafe is exactly what it sounds like. A cafe where you can play board games.

Over a year ago, The Sideboard announced its plans to open next to Cape Fear Games on Oleander.

Throughout the year, they have been posting updates of their progress on their Facebook page and also asking excited board game fans for their input on what to include in the café as far as food, beverages, and of course, types of board games.

Their menu shows they have everything from snacks such as buffalo chicken dip and waffled mac & cheese, to all different types of hot and cold sandwiches, coffee and tea, and even beer from a variety of North Carolina breweries with plenty coming from right here in the Cape Fear.

And while you’re eating, there are over 40 games to choose from for you to play at your own leisure.

Some of their favorite games include Catan, Carcassonne, and Power Grid. But you can find a list of plenty of the games they have in the café on their website here.

This unique board game café experience will officially opened for business Wednesday, August 28th.

Check out their Facebook page for more information.
